Rodriguez Luxury Cars runs car service between New York City and Newark Liberty International Airport. Your quote includes the Hudson River crossing tolls and the New Jersey Turnpike — the charges that most often turn a metered Newark run into an unpleasant surprise at the kerb.
Newark is the airport where a meter hurts most. The trip crosses a state line, a river and a toll plaza, and a taxi or rideshare will pass every one of those through to you at the end — on top of surge. Our Newark quote is all-inclusive and agreed before you travel. The Hudson crossing, the Turnpike and the airport access fee are already inside it.

Terminal pickup at Newark Airport
Newark's three terminals are connected by the AirTrain but have entirely separate arrivals halls and pickup areas. Newark also enforces its for-hire pickup zones strictly. Your chauffeur confirms the meeting point by text once you land.
| Terminal | How pickup works |
|---|---|
| Terminal A | The rebuilt terminal, with a modern arrivals hall and a clearly signed for-hire pickup area. Meet-and-greet at baggage claim. |
| Terminal B | Handles a large share of international arrivals. We meet you past customs at the arrivals hall exit. |
| Terminal C | The busiest of the three. Its pickup area sits away from the arrivals doors, so meet-and-greet inside is the faster option here. |
How long does Newark Airport take by time of day?
About 16 miles from Midtown Manhattan. 45 to 70 minutes to Midtown, depending on the tunnel. The windows below are what we actually plan against rather than best-case figures.
| When | What to expect |
|---|---|
| Weekday 6:00 – 9:30am | Lincoln and Holland Tunnel queues are severe. Allow 80 minutes. |
| Weekday 10am – 3pm | Reasonable. 45 to 55 minutes to Midtown. |
| Weekday 4:00 – 7:00pm | The worst window of any New York airport run. Allow 90 minutes. |
| Evenings after 8pm | Clear. 35 to 45 minutes. |
| Any tunnel incident | There is no good alternative. We monitor and reroute via the George Washington Bridge when the tunnels close. |
Where we go from Newark
Newark serves two quite different sets of journeys. Into New York City it is the hardest of the three airports on the ground, because of the Hudson crossing. Into New Jersey it is the easiest by a wide margin.
For anyone heading to Hoboken, Jersey City, Montclair, Short Hills, Summit or Princeton, Newark is straightforwardly the right arrival airport and the ground leg is short. Our New Jersey coverage runs from the Hudson waterfront down to Princeton.
Northbound to Westchester and Connecticut, Newark is more reasonable than it looks, because the George Washington Bridge route avoids crossing Manhattan altogether.
What the Hudson crossing actually adds
The difference between Newark and JFK is almost entirely tolls rather than distance — sixteen miles against fifteen. What the Newark run adds is a river crossing, the New Jersey Turnpike and an airport access fee.
On a metered trip every one of those is added at the end, on top of whatever the meter reached and on top of any surge multiplier. This is the most common source of an unpleasant surprise at the kerb anywhere in New York ground transport.
Our Newark quotes contain all of it. There is nothing to settle when you arrive, and the quote does not move because the Lincoln Tunnel was slow.
Building a buffer that actually works
We recommend an extra thirty minutes for Newark departures that we do not recommend for JFK or LaGuardia. The reason is that the failure mode has no good workaround.
A Van Wyck problem on the JFK run has the Belt Parkway as an alternative. A Hudson tunnel closure has the George Washington Bridge, which is considerably further north and carries its own congestion. The gap between those two fallbacks is thirty to forty-five minutes.
Between 4pm and 7pm on a weekday, treat ninety minutes as the planning figure for Newark to Midtown rather than the worst case. Outside those hours, forty-five to seventy is realistic.
We monitor both crossings continuously and reroute rather than sit in a queue that is not moving. That is a dispatch decision, not something you need to manage.
Private aviation and Teterboro
A good deal of the private aviation traffic that people associate with Newark actually moves through Teterboro, which we also cover.
FBO pickups work differently from a commercial terminal. The timing is driven by the aircraft rather than a published schedule, the vehicle usually meets the aircraft directly, and the whole thing is arranged through the operator rather than an arrivals board.
If you are arranging ground transport around private aviation, tell us the FBO and the tail number rather than a flight number and we will coordinate with them.

Yes. Every toll on the route is inside your quote, including the Hudson crossing and the New Jersey Turnpike. There is nothing to settle at the kerb.
Forty-five to seventy minutes for most of the day, and up to ninety in the weekday evening peak when the Lincoln and Holland Tunnels are at their worst. If your flight is tight, we will suggest a departure time rather than let you guess.
Yes — Terminals A, B and C, arrivals and departures. Newark enforces its for-hire pickup zones strictly, so your chauffeur confirms the exact meeting point by text once you land rather than guessing at the kerb.
Marginally — about sixteen miles against JFK's fifteen. The distance is not the issue; the Hudson River crossing is. A tunnel backup adds far more time to a Newark run than traffic ever adds to a JFK run.
Yes. Long-distance runs out of Newark are common — Greenwich, Stamford, the Hamptons and beyond. Request a quote through the booking form.
